Buffalo Bills star Von Miller has yet to respond to the NFL’s announcement of his four-game suspension, and his longtime girlfriend, who was involved in past legal allegations, has stepped back from the public eye.
On October 1, the NFL announced that Miller had been suspended for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, related to allegations of assaulting his girlfriend, Megan Denise, last year. According to an NFL.com wire report, Miller turned himself in to police near Dallas in November of last year on allegations of assaulting a pregnant woman, identified as Denise.
Miller ultimately faced no charges in connection with the incident, and both he and Denise have denied the accusations. On Tuesday, Denise further distanced herself from the public eye by making her Instagram account private.
Von Miller’s Girlfriend Took Similar Action on Social Media Last Year This isn’t the first time that Miller’s longtime girlfriend has taken steps to restrict her social media activity. Following the initial allegations in November, she disabled comments on her Instagram posts.
Denise also spoke out to deny the allegations, telling Dallas news station WFAA that no assault had occurred, and described the situation as a “verbal disagreement” that was misunderstood.
“We’re fine,” she told the station. “Things were blown way out of context. This is actually outrageous!”
“No one assaulted anyone,” Denise continued. “This is insane. And sad.”
Miller has also consistently denied the accusations, stating that he was innocent and working to clear his name.
“When you see that kind of stuff come up in articles, it’s shocking, especially when it’s your name attached to it,” Miller said during a December 2023 press conference. “But it’s 100% false. It’s overblown. I’ve got the right people working on it.”
“The only true part is that we’re expecting our third son,” Miller added. “Everything else is untrue.”
Von Miller Faced Previous Allegations
Miller has previously faced allegations involving Denise. In January 2021, The Washington Post reported that police in Parker, Colorado, were investigating him, though the details were undisclosed at the time. Miller was with the Denver Broncos then.
“No charges have been filed, and police declined to provide more information since the investigation is ongoing,” the report stated. “However, a source familiar with the situation indicated that the investigation was related to interactions with his former girlfriend, including text messages she allegedly shared on social media in early January.”
The report highlighted that Denise, then identified as an ex-girlfriend, had posted an Instagram story showing an ultrasound image and threatening messages that she claimed were from Miller.
“My heart goes out to any woman or man who has dealt with mental, physical, or verbal abuse,” Denise wrote in another Instagram story. “Praying death on me and mine was enough!”
