Another Liverpool star is under consideration for transfer as Xabi Alonso seeks a move.

Xabi Alonso wants one of Jurgen Klopp’s young talents.
Liverpool could lose another local star.

Liverpool lost Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from their own quota in the summer.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were already short-handed last season due to a lack of England-trained players and departures in the existing transfer window are likely to drain another part of the senior squad to be named for the new season.

As things stand, Liverpool could field a maximum squad of 22.

That’s three short of Klopp’s maximum and two short of last year, with the three starts partially offset by Curtis Jones who graduated from the U21 category to the homegrown ranks.

But more homegrown players could leave in what remains of the transfer window.

Notably, Nat Phillips has long been expected to finally move this summer.

And while the left had remained silent on that front, it is now claimed that a club “really likes it”.

According to Leeds Live, Phillips is being actively considered for Leeds United.

Now he’s being coached by Daniel Farke and Manchester City’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis is also on the cards, but a move for the Liverpool defender Luke Chambers is certainly on the cards.

While this transfer is long overdue in many ways, it would also raise questions.

If Phillips were to leave, the squad size would be reduced to 21, which also leaves the defense a bit paltry – putting pressure on new players in the remaining summer months.

Alonso had to wait for the transfer

Xabi Alonso is making a name for himself in the coaching world.

He shot to fame with Real Sociedad B-Team, guiding them to the rare heights of La Liga 2 some 59 years after they last appeared in Spain’s second tier.

And now he is making progress in the senior game.
Alonso took over at Bayer Leverkusen at the start of last season and changed the fortunes of the German side.

He lifted them out of relegation worries from the Bundesliga and into the Europa League places while reaching the semi-finals of last year’s tournament.

It is inevitable that one day he will be on the radar as a potential successor to Klopp at Liverpool.

But he could have faced his old club much sooner as he is keen to take on a young Reds loan.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Alonso liked Luke Chambers.

And now they released an update, stating that Bayer Leverkusen are still waiting to sign the promising young defender Luke Chambers.

Left-back in the first place, but also capable of playing as a central defender. He was loaned out to Kilmarnock in the latter part of last season and has been extremely impressive.

Although he has not been seen with Liverpool in pre-season, the German club say Klopp would like to keep an eye on him for some longer as his profile could be well suited to bolster their first-team squad.

The nineteen year old requires further evaluations before a decision is made. However, Liverpool will not consider a permanent agreement.
