CeeDee Lamb, a player for the Cowboys, has great hopes for his future contract.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is eligible for a new contract extension and he has some high expectations for what a potential deal will look like.

He is hoping to be the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL. Lamb said on Thursday his main focus right now is winning the Super Bowl next month, but that after that they will “start talking.” On the subject of being the NFL’s highest-paid receiver, he simply said “Ideally, yeah, for sure.”

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is currently the NFL’s highest-paid receiver at $30 million per year.

Lamb is still on his rookie contract with the Cowboys. His fifth-year option was picked up and carries a salary cap number of over $17 million next season.

Lamb is one of the Cowboys’ most dominant players and one of the most productive receivers in the NFL. He has already set franchise records for receptions (122) and receiving yards (1,651) this season. He has reached the 1,000-yard mark in each of the past three seasons and 100 yards in each of the past two seasons.

Dallas has been hesitant to sign wide receivers to big contracts in recent years (especially Amari Cooper), but Lamb is one of the best players they’ve had in recent years.

Signing him to a long-term deal should be a top priority for the front office after the season. The longer you wait until next season, the more likely Lamb’s price will continue to rise and he may be tempted to test the open market for more money.
