DeMeco Ryans believes that the 49ers can win the Super Bowl as long as Dre Greenlaw remains in good health.

DeMeco Ryans says the 49ers will be Super Bowl champions if Dre Greenlaw stays healthy.

Today we’ll recap some news from the NFL Combine. As someone who supports Florida State football, it was an eventful Thursday for the Seminoles.

DeMeco Ryans says the 49ers would have won Super Bowl 58.

“I talked to him before the game,” Ryans told NBC Sports Bay Area at the NFL Scouting Combine on Tuesday. “He was in the right mode.

He hates to say it, but I think the game would have been different if Dre had been there. “The reason we have Dre is because he can make an impact.”

“I thought, ‘I can’t believe this happened,’” Lyons said. “He had a great game, and knowing Dre, I know when he’s going to play. It was locked.

I know he will have a good game.”
How the 49ers will build their offense around Brock Purdy
He is a Pro Bowl quarterback who led the NFL in passer rating.

He doesn’t need the most expensive quarterback or most expensive gadget player in the NFL. He needs what every top-level quarterback needs: good pass protection and a wide receiver who can get open.

This is why Purdy likes Brandon Aiyuk so much. Purdy can trust Ayuk to beat his man, which allows Purdy to throw the ball before Ayuk gets a break.

Imagine Purdy having three wide receivers he can trust to beat players and an offensive line that gives him more than two seconds to scan the field.
I don’t expect Armstead to be released.

In fact, my guess is that he’ll be back with the 49ers for at least a few more years. He’s a valuable leader and can still play at a high level when healthy (see the Super Bowl performance a few weeks ago).

But he hasn’t been very healthy over the past few years (missed eight games in 2022 and five last season). This could be a problem for the 30-year-old defenseman if injuries start piling up.

So Armstead’s 2024 cap hit of $28.3 million appears to be something the 49ers are willing to lower. Also worth noting is that none of this is guaranteed. The 49ers could certainly approach Armstead with a contract extension that would guarantee close to $28 million but spread it out over several years, lowering his annual cap hit.

It would be understandable if Armstead didn’t want to take that pay cut. If he is released, there will be teams that want him. There may be one or two teams willing to trade him, but once it becomes clear that the 49ers want to part with that money, interested teams will likely wait until he is released.

The 49ers are talking with three TEs and other members of the NFL Scouting Combine.
While head coach Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers coaches are away, general manager John Lynch is in Indianapolis this week for the NFL Scouting Combine and evaluating prospects ahead of April’s draft.

Of those reported so far, three are tight ends. The 49ers have reportedly been in contact with Penn State’s Theo Johnson, Florida State’s Jaheim Bell and TCU’s Jared Wiley.

Phillips said the position is a good fit for his skills and mindset. “For me, when I first started using nickel, it felt natural,” he said. “For the first two years, I played corner. I never played nickel.

I put on nickel in third grade, and it was a natural thing. “I’ve been preparing for the past few years, and I think it’s perfect for passing.”
