Eagles Put Heat on James Bradberry as Contract Decision Looms.

Philadelphia Eagles veteran cornerback James Bradberry is taking a big step forward in 2023 after a strong 2022 season. Last season, Bradberry, 30, totaled 54 tackles, 13 pass deflections and one interception.

The veteran cornerback was a huge liability in pass coverage, as he allowed a 59.4 target completion percentage, a 114.3 target completion percentage (a career high) and 11 receiving touchdowns (a career high).

However, Eagles fans wondered if the team would move on from Bradberry, who signed him to a three-year deal last offseason. But Eagles GM Howie Roseman isn’t here yet, but he recognizes Bradberry hasn’t had a good year.

“He’s been working hard, but we’re not ashamed of the fact that he didn’t have the year he expected, and we didn’t have the year we expected.” said Roseman (h/t Philly Voice’s Jimmy Kempski). The chances of the Eagles moving on from Bradberry after June 1st are still slim, but the Eagles have plenty of depth at cornerback and could target the position in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. It’s for a reason.

Last season, the Eagles showed glimpses of promise at cornerback when rookie Kelly Ringo started alongside Bradberry when Darius Slay was sidelined due to arthroscopic knee surgery.

Ringo totaled 21 tackles, two pass deflections, one sack, and one interception. He also posted a 63.6 target completion percentage, 86.2 target completion pass rate, and gave up a receiving touchdown. With the NFL Draft a month away, it will be interesting to see what the Eagles do at the cornerback spot as they don’t want a repeat of last season.
