Kansas City Chiefs set to lose L’Jarius Sneed in blow to Super Bowl three-peat bid.

The Kansas City Chiefs could be parting ways with a key player who played a role in their Super Bowl victory. According to ATOZ SPORTS, the Indianapolis Colts are looking to acquire defensive standout L’Jarius Sneed.

The Colts and the Chiefs are close to finalizing a significant trade for Sneed, which may involve the Colts’ third-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and another pick in 2025.

It has been reported that the Colts have been interested in Sneed throughout the season. They initially wanted to sign him as a free agent, but the Chiefs opted to retain him for another season. While Kansas City was hoping to receive a second-round pick for Sneed in 2024, other teams were hesitant due to the high salary he is likely to demand.

Despite the trade rumors, Sneed expressed his desire to remain with the Chiefs and strive for more Super Bowl victories. “Two championships are special, but three? Winning never gets old,” said Sneed. “I hope to continue playing for the Chiefs and aim for a repeat.”

The Colts are eager to add a top defensive player who had a standout season in 2023. Sneed recorded two interceptions in the regular season and proved to be a tough defender, preventing any touchdowns against him. In the playoffs, he contributed with 17 tackles, helping the Chiefs reach and win Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers in a thrilling 25-22 overtime victory.

While Sneed may miss out on pursuing another Super Bowl title, Kansas City’s quarterback Patrick Mahomes is determined to make history. “It would be historic,” Mahomes stated. “No one has achieved it before, and we understand the significance of winning back-to-back championships.”
