Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah scored a late goal against Toulouse last night, breaking the record set by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah broke Arsenal icon Thierry Henry’s European goalscoring record on Thursday night thanks to his second-half goal against Toulouse in the UEFA Europa League.

That night, Jurgen Klopp’s side defeated France 5-1 thanks to Salah’s goal in stoppage time.

The Egyptian international’s feat means he has scored 43 goals in all competitions in Europe since joining Liverpool in 2017, with all but two of those coming in the Champions League.

The prolific attacker’s goals are currently the highest in Europe by a Premier League player, a record that Henry previously held for 17 years.

The Frenchman scored 42 goals in European competition during his time with the Gunners, before eventually moving to La Liga powerhouse Barcelona in 2007.

Of course, he continued to score goals for the Catalan giants in Europe, but during his short second spell at Arsenal he did not add to his European scoring tally.

Henry recently spoke out about his affinity for the north London club and praised Mikel Arteta for getting his former side back on the right track in recent years. “Five years ago, I didn’t identify with the team,” he said on the podcast “The Rest is Football.” “I couldn’t do it.

I went to the match because I had to go, not because I wanted to. It was because I was an Arsenal fan and I wanted to see them play. “But now I understand what it is… I have a lot of respect for what Mikel (Arteta) has done.” That’s how he got his team back. ”

Arteta’s side currently sit third in the Premier League, two points behind leaders Tottenham Hotspur.
