Patriots Chukwuma Okorafor Contract Details Revealed.

On Thursday, the New England Patriots began their free agency period by signing Chukwuma Okorafor, a former offensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The details of Okorafor’s contract have now been disclosed. ESPN reports that the Patriots agreed to a one-year deal with Okorafor worth $4 million initially, but it could go up to $8.25 million.

The contract includes a $2 million signing bonus, a guaranteed $1.125 million salary, up to $680,000 in roster bonuses, a workout bonus of $195,000, and potential playtime incentives totaling $4.25 million.

Okorafor, who is 26 years old, was originally set to make $9.75 million in the final year of a three-year, $29.25 million contract he signed with the Steelers in 2022. Drafted in the third round out of Western Michigan in 2018, Okorafor served as a backup for his first two seasons in the NFL, playing in 14 games and starting four.

He became a starter in 2020 and remained in that role until Week 7 of the previous season when he was replaced by rookie Broderick Jones. Despite this, Okorafor had started 57 consecutive games, including playoff games.

In the last season, he was penalized eight times and allowed two sacks in seven starts, with an overall grade of 60.4 according to Pro Football Focus.
