Report: Dallas Cowboys Dak Prescott Provides Startling Response Regarding His Future With The Club

Apr 20, 2024 #Dak Prescott, #Jerry Jones

Although the Dallas Cowboys have consistently had some of the most intriguing franchise tales in the NFL, it’s nearly hard to guess what Jerry Jones and company will come up with in 2024.

If you pay attention to Jones, he continues to support his claim that Dallas is going “all in” in 2024 in an attempt to win another Lombardi Trophy and eventually overcome their playoff disadvantage.

After the Cowboys were eliminated from the playoffs early, that reasoning made sense. Their franchise quarterback, Dak Prescott, was dominating the MVP race, and they possessed a team full of talent on both sides of the ball.

He was in the dialogue for the majority of the year and concluded 2023 with one of his best professional statistical seasons. The Dallas Cowboys had a perfect home record going into the playoffs as the No. 2 seed.

However, Dallas choked in the opening round of the playoffs, losing to a youthful Green Bay Packers club that had just about sneaked into the postseason, as anyone with a pulse has come to anticipate.

After the defeat, there were doubts about whether Jerry Jones would take big action, but he didn’t.

He declared Prescott the team’s starting quarterback going forward and kept head coach Mike McCarthy on board through 2024.

The Dallas Cowboys were almost universally expected by NFL Insiders to offer Prescott a contract deal to clear financial space and bring in fresh talent through free agency; but, Jones has done nothing and is allowing Dak Prescott to finish out his contract year.

However, there are concerns about what lies ahead for the Cowboys’ other two best players, Micah Parsons and CeeDee Lamb.

Although neither player’s contract has been extended by the club as of yet, it is anticipated that Lamb will sign a new agreement with the Cowboys prior to the 2024 season commencing.

With just one year left on his rookie contract, CeeDee Lamb is coming off of a campaign in which he was named to the first team of the NBA.

He’s made a name for himself as a top receiver. and for that reason, according to Bleacher Report writer Alex Ballentine, the Dallas Cowboys will pay him as much as, if not more than, any wide receiver in the NFL.

Dak Prescott agreed to a four-year, $160 million contract in 2021. The quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys revealed his expectations for contract talks in 2025 on Friday. “I’m not necessarily aiming to be the highest paid person.

Prescott stated, “We’ll wait until talks start, and I clearly want to put this club in the greatest scenario. As of right now, Prescott is the NFL’s tenth-highest paid quarterback.

Prescott had a fantastic 2023 season, topping the NFL in passing touchdowns (36) and completing passes with 410. However, the former star player for Mississippi State was unable to lead his club to victory in the NFL Playoffs Wildcard Round.

The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly taking a chance by allowing Prescott to play out the final year of his contract before beginning contract talks, and the team quarterback appeared to confirm this on Friday.

To be honest, I’m concentrating on the here and now. Sure, we can talk about that when the actual conversations start. However, in this instance, my attention is on improving right now, so I’ll leave everything to my improved now agency and Jerry, but I’ll undoubtedly be more involved once those discussions start.

Prescott nevertheless reaffirmed that he and Jerry Jones agree on the hear and now. “There is no gray area there; after speaking with Jerry, I can clearly understand where we are. Jerry has also expressed the same thing.

We had a terrific talk that helped us both understand where we were right now, and as soon as that changes, we will talk about going forward. Then, though, Prescott gave a speech on his future in Dallas that stood out from anything he had said previously in his role as the starting signal caller for the Cowboys.

To be honest with you, Prescott remarked, “I won’t say that I fear being here or that I fear any scenario. “I adore this game, enjoy playing it, and strive to improve both as a player and for others around me.

I’m currently focused on the Dallas Cowboys, and that’s where I want to be, where I am, and where I want to be. And we’ll find out where we are at and whether it remains true in the future once the season ends. We’ll take it from there if not.

This is the first time that Prescott has discussed openly a possible career outside of Dallas. Although it might not seem like much right now, how the 2024 season unfolds could make it become a very significant plot point.
