This summer, Manchester United under Erik ten Hag have not engaged in negotiations to acquire Frenkie de Jong, a star midfielder for Barcelona. Fabrizio Romano claims that Manchester United have not attempted to acquire Frenkie de Jong during the current transfer window. Although the Red Devils have been interested in his services for some time, they have not yet advanced it to the next level.
Manchester United’s new recruitment team has gone to great lengths to sign their top targets and strengthen the team for the 2024/25 season after deciding to stick with Erik ten Hag. To help them move on, they’ve added a forward and three defenders. Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro will add profundity to the core of the safeguard, while Noussair Mazraoui will fortify the full-back areasm and Joshua Zirzkee will give Rasmus Hojlund support in the last third. Erik ten Hag has not been afraid to sign his former Ajax players since moving to Old Trafford.
The group already includes Antony and Andre Onana, and this summer, he added De Ligt and Mazraoui. The Dutch manager would love to acquire Frenkie de Jong as well if given the chance. However, it appears extremely challenging at this point to bring him to the Premier League. With a staggering weekly wage of £606,000, the Dutchman is La Liga’s highest-paid player. As a result, paying him could be difficult. More importantly, the Catalan giants have a huge release clause for him because they see him as an essential part of their setup. Therefore, it is unlikely that Barcelona will allow him to leave on a cheap deal.
However, Fabrizio Romano has stated that nothing is taking place at this point. There are no plans for a deal between the two teams. At this point, United have not made any moves to bring him to Old Trafford, though things could change soon.
