CEEDEE LAMP: Dallas Cowboys Meet with All-Pro WR Representative to finalize deal

Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News says that the Cowboys attempted to close a deal by speaking over the phone with CeeDee Lamb’s agent on Thursday.

According to Watkins, the team has made an offer to the receiver that is just under $33 million a season. That would raise the yearly average for players at the position above that of A.J. Brown of Philadelphia ($32 million) but below that of Justin Jefferson of Minnesota ($35 million).

Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones has stated that Lamb is not aiming to surpass Jefferson, but he does want to be close by.

Lamb is expected to play this season on a $17.991 million fifth-year option after playing for a base salary of $2.52 million the previous season. With a league-high 135 catches for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns in his rookie season, he had a career year and was named an All-Pro for the first time.

Since the conclusion of the previous season, Lamb has not been seen by the Cowboys due to his refusal to participate in the offseason program and his 25-day training cap hold. According to Watkins, offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer stated, “CeeDee is going to be ready.”

“If the system were different, there would constantly be new difficulties. He is aware of our actions. Together, he and Dak [Prescott] have between 1,000 and 10,000 banked reps, in my opinion.
