Francesca Cumani, wife of Eddie McGuire and James Bracy, attends the Melbourne Cup.

Nine has announced the star-studded line-up to host the 2024 Melbourne Cup Carnival. As its new official announcer, Nine has tapped sports journalist Eddie McGuire to host the week-long event. McGuire previously hosted the Carnival Cup for 10, on loan from Nine. James Bracey will join him in the action at the Mounting Yard, while British racing expert Francesca Cumani will return to Melbourne to provide analysis throughout the carnival. In-form experts Grace Ramage and David Gately ensure viewers get all the information they need, while football legend Billy Slater is on hand to interview the winning jockey on horseback. Tony Jones will also be in full swing at the Mounting Yard giving interviews.

Melbourne Cup Carnival Ambassador and Lexus Melbourne Cup winning jockey Michelle Payne will appear on air as part of her role with the Victoria Racing Club. Michel will provide expert insight and analysis throughout the Carnival, drawing on his historic win in 2015 and his deep knowledge of the racing industry. Clint Stanaway, Sylvia Jeffries, Jelena Dokic and Olympic champion Jessica Fox bring color and excitement to the nine birdcages and beyond.

Nine’s Melbourne Cup Carnival team includes James Bracey, Eddie McGuire, Alicia Locksley and Billy Slater.In addition to live streaming, viewers are promised an enhanced experience on 9Now. Coverage begins with Penfolds Victoria Derby Day on Saturday November, followed by Lexus Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday 5 November. Crown Oaks Day follows on Thursday 7 November and the carnival concludes with TAB Champions Stakes Day on Saturday 9 November.

Melbourne’s 9News Alicia Locksley and Tom Stainforth will join Carl Stefanovic, Sarah Abo, Clint Stanaway, Sophie Walsh and the entire Today and Weekend Today team, broadcasting live from Southbank Promenade and Flemington to the Crown during the Melbourne Cup Carnival. 9Network Director of Sport Brent Williams said: “The Melbourne Cup Carnival is one of the biggest spectacles in the world of sport and we couldn’t be prouder to be a broadcaster.
