In A Recent Interview Stephen A. Smith Questioned Jerry Jones On CeeDee Lamb Contract Extension ‘Took So Long? ‘…

Stephen A. Smith pressed Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on why it took so long to finalize CeeDee Lamb’s contract extension.

Lamb recently agreed to a four-year, $136 million deal with Dallas, but the extension wasn’t completed until just last week.

In a special edition of “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” streamed on YouTube, Smith asked Jones directly, “What took you so long?” Jones responded by saying he didn’t feel any urgency to rush the deal.

“There was never any doubt about how we felt about CeeDee as a player or his value to this team,” Jones said.

“I don’t see contracts as being on a strict timeline. Whether he’s on the field or not isn’t a matter of rushing a contract.”

During the interview, Smith also brought up quarterback Dak Prescott, who is nearing the end of his contract and could potentially become a free agent after the season.

Jones reassured Smith about Prescott’s future, stating, “What Dak is as a person and a quarterback will only get better with time. I believe the next five to ten years will show his growth.”

Jones admitted the financial challenge of managing Prescott’s contract, saying, “We’re in a tough position, not only trying to recover what we’ve invested in him over the last four years but also factoring in what we’ll owe him moving forward. In the end, that’s not Dak’s fault—it’s on the Cowboys. That money impacts what we can spend on the rest of the team.”
