Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs had an action-packed start to Sunday night’s crucial game against the Minnesota Vikings.
On the bright side, he kicked off the scoring by punching in his 17th touchdown of the season. Gibbs exploited a gap in the Vikings’ defensive line and dashed 25 yards into the end zone.
It’s the kind of electrifying play Gibbs has been delivering all season for the Lions, and he came through once again in the most important game of the regular season.
However, not everything went his way. Later in the first half, Gibbs found himself on the wrong end of a highlight-reel moment. While Lions quarterback Jared Goff tried to connect with him on a swing pass in the backfield, Vikings edge rusher Andrew Van Ginkel delivered a thunderous hit—one of the biggest of the NFL season.
The collision briefly left Gibbs shaken as he received attention on the sidelines.
Gibbs entered the game with 1,273 rushing yards and 486 receiving yards, serving as a crucial piece of the Lions’ offense. His importance has only grown with fellow running back David Montgomery sidelined for the rest of the season due to injury.
