Third-year wide receiver Romeo Doubs will not join his Green Bay Packers teammates on the field this Sunday afternoon. The team has announced that Doubs has been suspended for the Week 5 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams due to conduct detrimental to the team.

The suspension follows Doubs’ absence from two practices and team meetings last week.

Initially, the Packers cited unspecified personal reasons for Doubs’ absence and listed him as doubtful for the game. Prior to the suspension, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur described Doubs’ status as “day to day.”

According to a report from Sports Illustrated, Doubs was frustrated with his limited opportunities within the Packers’ offense. Fox News Digital reached out to the Packers for comment but did not receive an immediate response. Attempts to contact Doubs and his representatives were also unsuccessful.

“We had to make the difficult decision to suspend Romeo for this week’s game,” Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said in a statement. “His actions during the week affected the team negatively, making this step necessary. While we are disappointed, we’re confident in moving forward. Romeo is a key player, and we look forward to having him back next week.”

Although Doubs participated in Wednesday’s practice, he missed Thursday’s session and failed to show up at the team facility on Friday. His whereabouts on Saturday remain unclear as the Packers traveled to California that day.

Doubs’ suspension comes at a time when the Packers’ receiving corps is already affected by injuries. Christian Watson was listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game due to a sprained left ankle.

Doubs, the Packers’ second-leading receiver, has caught 12 passes for 169 yards over the first four games of the season. Last season, he had eight touchdown receptions, but he has yet to score this year.

This isn’t the first suspension the Packers have dealt with in the past year. Defensive back Jaire Alexander was suspended for one game in December, also for conduct detrimental to the team.

No direct roster move was made following Doubs’ suspension, but the team did promote cornerback Robert Rochell from the practice squad to the active roster. Fullback Andrew Beck was also elevated from the practice squad ahead of Sunday’s game.
