The Eagles made a couple of roster moves on Saturday ahead of their 1 p.m. game against the Browns at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday:
WR Parris Campbell has been signed to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.
OL Jack Driscoll has been elevated from the practice squad.
After releasing linebacker Devin White earlier in the week, the Eagles had an open spot on their 53-man roster. Campbell had already been elevated the maximum three times, so the Eagles needed to sign him to the active roster to keep him eligible for game days. He’ll serve as the fifth wide receiver for Sunday’s game, joining A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Jahan Dotson, and Johnny Wilson.
However, this move means that safety Sydney Brown will need to wait at least another week to make his 2024 debut. The Eagles opened Brown’s practice window after his ACL recovery, as well as for receiver Ainias Smith (ankle) this week.
They now have 21 days to activate them or shut them down for the season. Brown is expected to be activated soon and should play a role in Vic Fangio’s defense.
For now, the final roster spot goes to Campbell. The 27-year-old was released during final cuts but later accepted an offer to join the practice squad after initially declining. He was elevated for the last three games, playing 99 offensive snaps and recording 6 catches for 30 yards and a touchdown.
“Parris has done some really good things,” head coach Nick Sirianni said on Friday. “I’ve seen him make plays for a long time in this league. He plays with relentless effort, he’s physical, and he’s tough.”
Campbell will likely remain the fifth receiver until Britain Covey returns from Injured Reserve after a shoulder injury.
Driscoll, 27, has been with the Eagles’ practice squad since Sept. 3. The former Eagles draft pick spent the summer with the Dolphins before being released at final cuts. From 2020-23, Driscoll played in 54 games with 17 starts for the Eagles and offers versatility at both tackle and guard. He has two more practice squad elevations remaining after this one.
