The Cabo Wabo 250 at Michigan – NASCAR Xfinity Series On Saturday

On Saturday, NASCAR’s next top drivers look to score a win in the Irish Hills, as the second race of the weekend at Michigan International Speedway is the annual Cabo Wabo 250.

Since 1992, the NASCAR Cup Series’ top supporting division has been turning laps around MIS. Future legends of the sport like Dale Earnhardt Jr., Mark Martin, Ryan Newman and more have won at the two-mile oval before placing themselves in the upper echelon of stock car greats.

This year’s race has plenty on the line, both for first place in the standings, and playoff implications.

Heading into Saturday, Cole Custer leads the NXS in points, thanks to a plethora of solid finishes. The Stewart Haas Racing driver has finished outside of the top 10 just four times so far this season, and was victorious last month at Pocono Raceway. Justin Allgaier, who had a great run at Michigan last year, is sitting second in the standings, 56 back of Custer.

With 12 drivers qualifying for the postseason, and eight drivers already have punched their tickets with checkered flags, only four spots remain prior to next month’s cut-off. AJ Allmendinger currently leads all winless drivers, sitting sixth in points.

One driver to keep an eye on will be Jesse Love. The Richard Childress Racing driver is coming off a dominating 2024 season where he convincingly won the ARCA Menards Series championship. Love also won the Cabo Wabo 250 last August.
