Glory Elite came out on top to win the Seoul Handicap (1,000m) at Happy Valley on Wednesday night, ending Jimmy Ting Koon-ho’s three-year Class Two drought. Under Derek Leung Ka-chun, Glory Elite, the second favorite at $4.3, jumped out of the gates and established a solid pace ahead. The $1.8 favorite, Colourful King, followed him all the way on the rail and had every opportunity to pass him. However, Glory Elite maintained his lead and easily defeated his challenge, winning by three-quarters of a length. Ting, who finished last in the winners’ enclosure following a Class Two, experienced a heartfelt triumph when My Sugar emerged victorious at Sha Tin back in March 2022.

“He was wide the entire time in his first race at the Valley, which was not good,” Ting said. The race lasted more than 1,200 meters. The last time, he went really quickly but continued till he reached the final 100 meters. Because of this, I assumed he would be quick enough when I saw that fewer horses were entered in the 1,000-meter race. I believe Derek is the finest jockey for the horse since he understands him well. Now that there are no races for him, I will let him rest. If there was some rain at the conclusion of the season, he might have one race. The soft ground appeals to him.
