The San Francisco 49ers worked out free agent quarterback Chris Streveler on Tuesday ahead of their Week 11 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

It is important to note that training does not necessarily mean a change in membership is imminent.

The team regularly evaluates free agents as a proactive measure to prepare for potential future needs.

San Francisco 49ers currently has three quarterbacks on the roster: Brock Purdy, Sam Darnold, and Brandon Allen.

Purdy and Darnold played against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, but neither was mentioned on head coach Kyle Shanahan’s postgame or Monday afternoon injury report.

After going undrafted in 2018, Streveler joined the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League.

He signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2020 and spent time with the Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins and New York Jets.

The quarterback was injured during this year’s Hall of Fame Game and was released after paying an injury settlement in August.

Streveler started nine NFL games and completed 67.5 percent of his passes for 231 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
