What will happen once Liverpool sign Alexis Mac Allister  – John Barnes predicts

John Barnes predicts what will happen once Liverpool sign Alexis Mac Allister.

Liverpool legend John Barnes has given his opinion on Alexis Mac Allister who now looks set to join the Reds.

Alexis Mac Allister will be signed to go ‘straight into the first team’ at Liverpool next season, legend John Barnes has claimed.

And the iconic former winger believes the midfielder will arrive at Anfield with huge expectations placed on him given his performances for Brighton and World Cup-winning Argentina last season.

Mac Allister has been named as Liverpool’s top transfer target following cooling interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and the Reds have moved quickly behind the scenes to ensure the 24-year-old is able to sign once the window officially opens later this month.

Barnes believes Mac Allister will be put to huge demands as the Reds aim to rebuild a midfield department which lost James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita at the end of the season.

“I think Alexis Mac Allister will come with a huge reputation and hope to be a starter,” Barnes told BonusCodeBets. “If a midfielder signs while signing, they immediately enter the team.

“If we sign an attacker, then he may have to fight for his place unless he is the best attacker in the world. But in midfield, if he is a player you want, he goes directly to the team, one hundred percent.

“Whether it’s Moises Caicedo, Declan Rice, that it is one of them. I don’t think the players will sign in midfield to be part of the team. Where if they sign a wide player you could say he would be a team player. If they get a midfielder, he goes right into the team.”

The Seagulls star is believed to have a release clause in a contract signed in October, although it is unclear at this stage what the fee would be for Liverpool to activate it.
Mac Allister, who is likely to participate in the Argentina-Australia fixture on June 15, is currently on an end-of-season holiday in Miami.
