Chase Briscoe had a last-minute surprise in the NASCAR Cup Series, but now that he’s here, the No.
The team is a perfect example of a goal – a Briscoe mentioned several times since Sunday night’s Southern 500. In 2011, Briscoe and team owner Tony Stewart were without a win. season and then win half the races. The next season is on the way to win the championship.
The belief in the ability to come from behind to win another championship is floating around the team. “When you look at what Stewart Haas Racing is like, a lot of it comes from Tony and the mental toughness and what Tony was able to do,” Briscoe said. “It’s a crazy move in sports. I’m going to join N.C. State in the NCAA basketball tournament.
It goes from being unbidden to going to the NCAA tournament to winning the ACC tournament and going to The Final Four, and I think we are. You can relate to the fact that it goes a long way when you’re fast and confident
I don’t know which team has more power and confidence than us right now. It’s a different feeling than any sports game I’ve ever played.”
Briscoe qualified for 2022 after winning the spring race at Phoenix Raceway. His team put the postseason idea aside for 23 weeks, and the situation is different now, thanks to Briscoe’s form taking the field.
“I’m excited and I really think if we can make it to Phoenix, we can make it there,” Briscoe said. “We’ve tried it once.”
Stewart-Haas Racing doesn’t have a champion other than Briscoe. Despite needing more control, it’s worth Briscoe’s full attention to help his career later in the season. There has been no turnover in Briscoe’s road crews or pit crews since the announcement of the closure of the operation. Some of those who worked on the championship stopped, but Briscoe went to fight with his main team.
“The day we found out,” said Briscoe, “all of the [No.] 14 guys, at least road crew guys, went over and met up at the setup plate, and all literally looked at each other in the eye and went one by one in a circle and said, ‘I’m in, I’m in, I’m in,’ until the end of the year. Even if we ran 35th, we were sticking it out until the end, so no worries on [our] side.
“The other teams have had a couple of people leave. But I think it’s going to be way harder for guys to leave now, knowing that there’s a chance we win a championship.”
And that’s the type of change in dynamic that’s occurred at Stewart-Haas Racing since Briscoe triumphed at Darlington Raceway.
“If a Stewart-Haas car didn’t win Sunday night, Tuesday morning when everyone came in after Labor Day would have probably been the gloomiest, darkest shop in the entire industry,” he said. “And now we’re probably the most electrifying, explosive hero.
Or at least the most exciting Stewart Haas film I’ve ever seen. Everybody’s in power. Everybody’s excited, if not car, Stewart Haas observed. Sunday night, in 10 weeks ago it was very difficult to get the cars on the track, maybe everything was shut down and so on.
If we win that race, it’s a great story about the culture of Stewart-Haas. “So, I’m really happy. I think it’s one of those things that we all believe inside that we can win the championship, and it’s probably crazy to go from guy to (some day) past) even “t” in the finals. , but I think in the mind, we saw that in 2011 and we thought if we could make it to the championships. 500 south store, why?
