You may have noticed that none of the teams playing last night in the Ravens-Chiefs season opener were the Dallas Cowboys. For most teams, this means a quiet evening with perfectly divided drama. The Cowboys aren’t a big team, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that they had an interesting brawl after the game.
Former Cowboys tight end Peyton Hendershot in particular had some juicy beef after the game. Speaking to reporters after Thursday night’s 27-20 loss, Ravens quarterback Roquan Smith had a few words for Hendershott, who now plays for the Chiefs, after the two collided in the face in the fourth quarter. It’s everything you’d expect from a press conference. It comes out of nowhere, fueled by strange questions from reporters, and ends with empty, menacing threats.
Payton Hendershot and Roquan Smith will likely miss this offseason.
After Patrick Mahomes was sacked and Smith took a late hit, Hendershot got in front of the quarterback and told him to get up. The best part is that Hendershot isn’t even dressed, so he’s in full uniform and ready to take down Smith.
Dallas Cowboys cheer still runs through his veins. However, Smith was not impressed and started talking about Hendershot after the match. Nothing happened at the time, but it sent a message that things will be different next time. “It was down,” Smith said in his postgame press conference. “But whoever 88 was, I don’t know who it was, but he did a little trick. “I don’t know who number 88 is, but I’ll know when I see him,” he said.
If you watch the video again, you can see why Smith was upset because someone next to him was clearly pushing him after the game. What is interesting here is that the man was not wearing any helmet, protective clothing or military uniform. And this man is not dressed like this because he is inactive. That means Peyton Hendershot is about to move in with Roquan Smith in full gear. Or maybe it’s the start of the next generation of AFC rivals: Roquan Smith and Peyton Hendershot. I guess we’ll find out in January.
