Smith’s Shocked Reaction to Stephen A. Dak Prescott’s Monster Trade

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith strongly disagrees with the Dallas Cowboys accepting a contract extension with quarterback Dak Prescott. Smith, who spoke with Pro Football Hall of Famer Chris Carter, listed all the reasons Prescott shouldn’t be the highest-paid quarterback in the league in a post he made on his X account. “[Prescott] made the playoffs twice in eight years. 60 million dollars? 60 million dollars? This is my husband.

Prescott became the highest-paid player in the league with a four-year, $240 million contract extension. Under this contract, his season average of $60 million means he will make $5 million more (~9% more) than the next highest earner (tied by Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence and Tua Tagovailoa ).

In the same video, Carter explained his concerns about the quarterback’s current salary structure. “If you look at the top 10 players (by salary), very few of them have playoff success. We know that Patrick Mahomes has only been beaten by a few people, including Joe Burrow. He went to the Super Bowl once. We know a friend of mine from Buffalo (Josh Allen). People are calling him the most overrated player in the NFL this season. I don’t think so. Why are all these players except Patrick Mahomes making $50 million? “What did Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence do?” Yes, he won a playoff game. But that’s not the only measure of quarterback play today.Tua, what did he do? Now you want to move the market thanks to Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys? not! Dak Prescott is a good quarterback and he’s proven that he’s better than anybody.”Carter agrees the Cowboys will pay Prescott, but others he mentioned don’t think he deserves a lower salary. Also, Stephen A. Smith would never be happy with Cowboy’s actions as he hated Dallas his whole life.

Earlier this season, Smith blasted Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for making NSFW comments about his tenure as the team’s general manager during his first taping for ESPN. “I love Jerry Jones … that guy is my friend,” Smith said on ESPN’s First Take on Wednesday. “But to say it’s great is a bit of an exaggeration. Yes, his talent will be discovered and used as a general manager. You know what else he did? He hired and fired coaches. He has had 7 different coaches since 1996… More coaches in the last 28 years than he has playoff wins… How the hell can you be a great GM and have more coaches than playoff wins? “Not only did you win the Super Bowl, but you didn’t even go to the Super Bowl.”

No matter what Cowboy does, good or bad, Stephen A. Smith has something to say about that.
