FRISCO: Few people openly support their loathing of a professional sports club as much as Dallas Cowboys media personality Stephen A. Smith does. Many others have voiced their own disgust for “America’s Team,” but Smith elevates those sentiments to a new plane—or at least he works tirelessly to give the idea that he does. Sometimes, those passions stretch beyond the love for his own favored sports clubs. Smith could not decide whether he loved the New York Knicks or hated the Dallas Cowboys in an interview with Front Office Sports that aired on X.

Smith could not decide whether he loved the New York Knicks or hated the Dallas Cowboys in an interview with Front Office Sports that aired on X. “It is still a tough call because I can not put into words the joy that I get from seeing Cowboys fans miserable,” Smith stated. “I mean, that truly resonates with me. To simply notice that they are crying and feeling unhappy.” “After all the misery they cause everybody else with their bravado … they are walking around Super Bowl champions – they am not won a Super Bowl in 29 years.”

Naturally, Smith does a great job of bringing such dramatics to life, but it appears like he is more interested in the Cowboys fan base than the actual squad. The missed postseason chances and the years spent wallowing in mediocrity’s murkiness make it simple to point fingers. However, he claims that what irritates him is the fallout from those mistakes.

The recent success of the Cowboys has only made this character’s behaviors worse. The playoff failures that plagued three straight 12-win seasons have just added fuel to that flames. And when do we use the word “character”? We genuinely mean it. Smith is not really a “hater” of Dallas. Knowing full well that any affiliation with the Cowboys puts money in his pocket, he is putting on a show. It is profitable, but we question why some Cowboys Nation members still fall for his gimmick after all these years.
