Report: Officer who arrested Tyreek Hill has been suspended six times

Days after Miami-Dade police arrested him before a Week 1 game against the Jaguars, Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill tried to balance his quest for reconciliation with the demands of accountability we tried. He made it clear that he wants the officer who made the situation worse to be fired. The new report could bolster Hill’s argument. The officer, who was placed on administrative duty following the incident, has been suspended six times in his career, per Fox Sports 640’s Andy Slater. Danny Torres, who has been with the department for 27 years, was suspended for up to 20 days.

These records may be critical to our internal processes in determining appropriate disciplinary consequences. He has the right to challenge any order and any disagreement with the proposed outcome will be resolved by the appropriate body. According to Slater’s report, Torres has not been suspended since 2019. The five-year gap between events that could have had serious consequences may help his case. Ultimately, this decision will be made based on standards developed and applied in broader practices within the Miami-Dade Police Department. Clearly, a police officer’s suspension record does not improve his situation.
