Just in: Corey Day Announced for NASCAR CRAFTMEN Truck Series Debut at Bristol – HendrickCars.com and McAnally-Hilgemann Racing (MHR)

HendrickCars.com and McAnally-Hilgemann Racing (MHR) announced today that rising sprint car star Corey Day will make his NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) debut at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) on Thursday, September 19th.

The 18-year-old will drive a HendrickCars.com-sponsored Chevrolet Silverado RST in four NCTS events, including races at BMS, Kansas Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway (HMS), and Martinsville Speedway.

Day, a native of Clovis, Calif., will be behind the wheel of the No. 81 Chevrolet for the races at Bristol and Martinsville, and the No. 91 Chevrolet at Kansas and Homestead. His four-race stint with MHR will be overseen by the team’s General Manager and seasoned crew chief, Chad Norris.

A standout in winged sprint car racing, Day has quickly gained recognition for his impressive performances, securing some of the sport’s most prestigious victories. Recently, he claimed his largest career win at the $100,000-to-win Trophy Cup, part of the High Limit Racing sprint car series, at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif.

With seven wins in 46 races so far this season, Day is currently ranked fifth in the series standings. His achievements also include becoming the youngest driver to win a USAC National Midget feature, a Chili Bowl preliminary feature, and earning a victory in the World of Outlaws series.

“I’m thrilled to be making my debut in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series,” Day said. “Although I’ve had limited experience outside of dirt racing, I’m eager to learn more about this new style of competition.

I’m aware that I’ll face some challenges, but I’m confident in my ability to adapt, especially with the incredible support from HendrickCars.com and McAnally-Hilgemann Racing. My goal is to represent them well and learn as much as I can.”

Bill McAnally, owner of McAnally-Hilgemann Racing, expressed excitement about Day’s transition to NASCAR, saying, “We’re eager to see what Corey can do in one of our Chevrolet Silverados. His talent and speed in sprint cars are undeniable, and we’re excited to help him adjust to NASCAR racing.

Corey has proven to be a quick learner throughout his career, and we’re looking forward to seeing his progress in these upcoming races.”

Day’s NASCAR debut at Bristol will be broadcast live on FOX Sports 1 at 8:00 p.m. ET on September 19th.
