Kicker Greg Joseph’s stint with the Detroit Lions was short-lived.
After New York Giants kicker Graham Gano sustained a leg injury, the team opted to sign Joseph from the Lions’ practice squad to their active roster.
Joseph’s agent, Brett Tessler, confirmed the move via social media.
Gano appeared on the Giants’ injury report following a light walk-through on Saturday but still attempted to play on Sunday against the Washington Commanders.
Although he went through his regular routine, Gano struggled during pregame warm-ups and couldn’t perform at his usual level.
“I didn’t miss many field goals in warm-ups. It was just bad luck,” Gano said. “My groin was bothering me, but it’s something everyone deals with. My hamstring was fine.”
The Giants, however, didn’t activate their practice squad kicker, leading the offense to attempt multiple two-point conversions.
Joseph had been part of the Lions’ practice squad but was positioned behind Jake Bates, who remains perfect on kicks in 2024.
Having previously played for the Browns, Titans, and Buccaneers, Joseph also contributed to the Buccaneers’ 2020 Super Bowl victory.
