NASCAR’s Corey LaJoie has broken his silence after his team’s surprising left.

Corey LaJoie has announced his departure from Spire Motorsports. LaJoie expressed his feelings about the end of his time with the team on social media, announcing the news after the NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway. “The past two months have been an exciting and unique journey,” said LaJoie (below). “It was a welcome challenge to lead the conversation about my future in the sport, continuing to prepare and perform at the highest level I have shown over the last month. Now that I’m in the industry, it gives me the clarity and motivation to continue to overcome obstacles in the sport.”

LaJoie, who joined Spire Motorsports in 2021, looked back on his time with the team and described it as transformative. His accomplishments with the team include three top-10 finishes in 29 races this year, including an impressive fourth-place finish in the Daytona 500 on February 18. LaJoie thanked his teammates and wished Spire Motorsports President Jeff Dickerson and the entire team the best. “I wish Jeff and everyone at Spire the best of luck as lifelong friends,” said LaJoie. “Rick Ware, Robbie Benton and the RWR team are also winners and committed to taking the organization to the next level and I am excited to join their team and help make this happen. We are truly grateful for the continued support of our partners and loyal fans throughout this journey.”

Dickerson praised LaJoie and what he has done for the team. “Cory LaJoie is a cornerstone of Spire Motorsports and we are very grateful for all the time, effort and energy he has put into our program,” said Dickerson. “RWR will have a name for Corey. He is dedicated and his determination brings out the best in those around him.”The change is part of a driver transfer deal that sees Justin Haley move from Rick Ware Racing to Spire Motorsports. Haley will take LaJoie’s place in the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. 7, which is scheduled to debut at Kansas Speedway later this month. This deal ties Haley to Spire Motorsports until 2025 and represents a long-term commitment and confidence in the driver.

We didn’t want to jeopardize her growth or ourselves. “In negotiations with Justin after the break, we agreed to release him from his contract with RWR.”
