The Jacksonville Jaguars have had a rough start to the 2024 season, going 0-3 and injuring highly paid quarterback Trevor Lawrence. “[Lawrence] doesn’t play the game with passion… “When he was first drafted by the Jags, he said football wasn’t his priority in life, and even with this generous and unfair second contract, he’s playing football like it’s not his priority,” the former offensive coordinator said of the NFL, Mike Florio wrote. Pro Football Talk “[H]’s game doesn’t match his skill, leadership, emotion, enthusiasm and drive, and he doesn’t take the weekly check-ins as a service to his teammates, organization and fans.”However, Lawrence’s specific comments for 2021 were a bit different than his former offensive coordinator’s.He elaborates on these comments later.
That doesn’t change the fact that Lawrence’s game doesn’t live up to his reputation as a former first-team pick and player who signed a five-year, $275 million contract. This season, he threw for 560 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, recorded 11 total sacks and completed just 52.8 percent of his passes. Lawrence, a 2022 Pro Bowler, averaged 21 touchdowns and 14 interceptions last season. Since leading the Jags to the postseason in 2022, he’s just 8-11 as a starter. It’s hard to say anything about the lack of motivation or passion for the game without visiting the Jacksonville facility. For whatever reason, people in Jacksonville are worried about the future of Lawrence and the team.
