Buffalo Bills star pass-rusher Von Miller has been suspended
The NFL on Tuesday Announced a four-game suspension for Miller that stems from a violation of the league’s personal conduct policy. Miller will be eligible for reinstatement following Buffalo’s Week 8 game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Late last year, a warrant was issued for Von Miller’s arrest on a felony charge of assaulting a pregnant woman. Miller turned himself in after the incident.
According to police documents, Miller’s girlfriend reported that a disagreement had escalated into physical violence, with Miller allegedly putting his hands around her neck and pulling her by the hair.
The affidavit supporting his arrest detailed the accusations, and during a 911 call, the woman told the dispatcher that Miller was “choking and hitting me,” mentioning she had “bruises all over” and that “my hair is out,” which seemed to refer to Miller pulling out some of her hair.
Police noted visible injuries when they arrived.
However, the woman later recanted, saying she was not assaulted and that the situation had been exaggerated. Prosecutors ultimately chose not to pursue charges.
This was not the first time Miller has faced legal issues. Despite the off-field concerns, the 35-year-old has proven to be a productive player this season, recording 3 sacks and 5 tackles in four games.
