Aidan Hutchinson’s family Breaks Silence With Aidan Surgery Update

The family of Aidan Hutchinson is asking fans to keep the Detroit Lions defensive star in their prayers after he suffered a severe injury on Sunday.

Hutchinson, the NFL’s sack leader, sustained a gruesome broken leg during the third quarter of the Lions’ dominant victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

The injury occurred when his left tibia snapped just above the ankle after a collision with the leg of teammate Alim McNeill while attempting to tackle Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

Hutchinson was rushed to a Dallas-area hospital, where he underwent immediate surgery.

Aidan Hutchinson underwent surgery for a broken tibia and fibula after suffering a leg injury in the Detroit Lions’ Week 6 win against the Dallas Cowboys. A rod was placed in his leg during surgery, and the expected recovery time is 6-8 months. This timeline means that Hutchinson is likely out for the season, though there was initial optimism from his camp that he might return if the Lions make a deep playoff run, potentially by the Super Bowl.

Following the incident, Hutchinson’s older sister, Mia, shared an emotional message on social media. “Please pray for Aidan,” she posted on her Instagram story, alongside a photo of the Lions defensive end in his game uniform.

The message was also reposted on the Instagram account “House of Hutch,” a page created by Hutchinson and frequently featuring his family—parents Chris and Melissa, and his sisters Mia, who manages his social media, and Aria, a former Miss Michigan USA.

Hutchinson was clearly in pain, grimacing as he fell to the ground. Replays showed the extent of the damage to his tibia.

Medical personnel attended to Hutchinson on the field for about 10 minutes as players from both teams gathered around him in a circle. After being placed on a cart with a cast on his leg, teammates and Dallas players offered support as they patted the 24-year-old.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell addressed the situation after the game: “It’s tough. He’s in good hands now, but obviously, he’ll be out for a while.”

“It’s hard when you lose someone like him. We’ll know more soon and wish him the best. It’s difficult, but if you dwell on it too much and start playing timid, that’s when you get hurt. The guys snapped back and stayed in the moment.”

FOX chose not to show replays of the injury, while former NFL star JJ Watt called the incident “horrific” on social media.

At the time of the injury, the Lions were leading 34-6. Hutchinson, who came into the game with 6.5 sacks, was the NFL’s top pass-rusher.
