Trade rumors have recently swirled around Cleveland Browns star pass-rusher Myles Garrett, sparking considerable speculation about his potential availability.
The buzz began with a report from Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, suggesting the Browns might entertain a “Godfather” trade offer for Garrett, which led to intense discussions. Garrett, however, has now addressed these rumors, giving a straightforward response when asked if he’s received reassurances from the team about his future.
Despite the speculation, a trade involving Garrett seems unlikely. Yet, the NFL is known for its unpredictable business decisions. If Cleveland were to receive a significant trade offer from Green Bay Packers or any other team, they might at least consider it. But Garrett’s recent comments should help calm some of the chatter.
The Browns currently stand at just 1-6, having already traded star wide receiver Amari Cooper, and may be headed for a rebuild. Garrett has faced several injuries this season, and over seven games, he’s recorded 17 tackles, four sacks, and two forced fumbles—solid stats, but not his typical dominance.
Now 28 and nearing 29, Garrett’s prime years are passing, raising questions about his future impact in Cleveland, especially if the team rebuilds over the next few seasons.
While a trade involving Garrett doesn’t appear imminent, the rumors may persist. Depending on the direction Cleveland’s front office takes, anything remains possible. But for now, fans should expect Garrett to remain with the Browns through the end of the 2024 season at least.
