Lions’ Jared Goff Dropped 4-Word Message on Jameson Williams Drama

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff had a simple, four-word response to the recent drama surrounding wide receiver Jameson Williams.

As the Lions enjoy one of their best seasons ever, they aren’t letting the latest issues involving Williams derail their Super Bowl hopes.

Williams, one of the Lions’ top wide receivers, could face a third NFL suspension following a traffic stop. According to Ross Jones of WXYZ Detroit, Williams was found with a concealed weapon under his seat while in a vehicle with his brother on October 29. The report also notes police are investigating why Williams wasn’t taken into custody, despite allegedly planning to do so for carrying a concealed weapon.

Now, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has weighed in on the situation with Williams.

Jared Goff Addresses Jameson Williams Incident During a press conference on Wednesday, October 30, Goff was asked about Williams’ recent issues and how he feels about it.

“He’s fine. We’re good,” Goff responded.

Goff added that he hasn’t spoken to Williams about the incident.

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell also seems to be standing by Williams.

“For me, I judge people over what’s in their heart, and I know what this kid’s made of and he’s worth hanging with,” Campbell said during the Wednesday press conference when asked about Williams. “He’s going to learn from this, he’s going to grow, and he’ll be better for all of it.”

Regarding the investigation’s status, the Detroit Police Department issued a statement to the Detroit News on Tuesday, October 29: “This investigation continues to evolve, and new information has come to light that we are actively addressing. We take every investigation seriously, especially when new allegations and facts emerge. We are committed to acting swiftly and transparently. Let it be clear: No one in the City of Detroit is above the law. Anyone who commits a crime will be held accountable, regardless of their position or status.”

Jameson Williams Needs to ‘Earn the Lions’ Trust’

On October 31, Max DeMara of SideLion Report argued that Williams must “wake up fast” to realize his potential and “reward Lions’ faith” in him.

“Coach Dan Campbell is loyal to his players, and he will stand up for them if they meet him halfway,” DeMara wrote.

He added, “Campbell has repeatedly vouched for Williams’ abilities and character, even as fans may question both due to ongoing issues. With reliable receivers like Amon-Ra St. Brown and Kalif Raymond in the same room, the difference is becoming more obvious.”

With that, DeMara said, “It’s time for Williams to mature and repay the faith Campbell, the city, fans, and franchise have placed in him. Otherwise, this situation may ultimately be a major waste of talent and time. Only Williams can decide what happens next.”
