Lions Brace for Taylor Decker’s Continued Absence

The Detroit Lions are once again preparing to be without starting left tackle Taylor Decker, who is dealing with a knee injury. This marks his third absence in the past five weeks, further testing Detroit’s offensive line depth.

Decker initially missed time earlier this season due to a shoulder injury sustained during practice, which sidelined him for the Houston Texans game. Though he returned to the lineup, he suffered a knee injury in the Lions’ victory over the Indianapolis Colts after being rolled up during a play. The setback kept him out of the Lions’ Thanksgiving matchup, and now it appears he will also miss Thursday night’s showdown against the Green Bay Packers.

The timing of Decker’s absence couldn’t be worse for the Lions, who are in the thick of a playoff push. His presence on the offensive line has been crucial in protecting quarterback Jared Goff and anchoring the team’s running game. Without Decker, Detroit will have to rely on backup options like Penei Sewell shifting over or next-man-up replacements, which could disrupt the offensive rhythm.

Meanwhile, Green Bay’s defense, led by pass-rushers Rashan Gary and Preston Smith, will likely exploit Decker’s absence. The Lions must adjust quickly to maintain their offensive efficiency against a divisional rival in primetime.

Decker’s status remains uncertain beyond this week, and his recovery will be closely monitored as Detroit aims to stay competitive in the NFC North.
