Thanksgiving football kicked off with an NFC North showdown as head coach Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions edged out the Chicago Bears 23-20 at Ford Field.

Lions standout Jahmyr Gibbs, one of the league’s top young running backs, delivered another strong performance despite limited opportunities. The former Alabama Crimson Tide star rushed nine times for 87 yards, moving closer to the 1,000-yard milestone for the season. He also added two receptions for 17 yards.

However, Gibbs might have had one of his most notable missteps of the season just before the holiday.

In a video shared on his Instagram story, Gibbs filmed a teammate, but fans quickly noticed something significant in the background—a whiteboard displaying what appeared to be specific plays or cadences. It’s unclear if the Lions actively use these in games, but the post certainly raised concerns about the wisdom of sharing such details online.

Heading into the matchup against Chicago, Campbell was reportedly unaware of Gibbs’ actions. On Saturday, following the victory, a reporter brought it to his attention during a press conference.

“Gibbs had a social media post where there was a bunch of plays or partial calls on a whiteboard behind [his teammate],” the reporter explained. “Is that something you need to remind players about when it comes to being mindful of their social media posts?”

Campbell responded with surprise, acknowledging the situation. “Oh, I didn’t know that,” he said. “I did not know that. Okay. Yeah, I need to check on that then. Did not know that. Yeah, I’d rather our stuff not be out there. Thanks.”

Gibbs has been a vital piece of a Lions team currently sitting at 11-1 and leading the NFC standings. The rookie has amassed 973 rushing yards and 11 total touchdowns this season, ranking among the top five in the league for both categories.

Detroit will face another Thursday game in Week 14, hosting the Green Bay Packers (9-3). The Lions previously defeated the Packers 24-14 during their first matchup this season on Nov. 3 at Lambeau Field.
