Shortly after being released by the Denver Broncos, veteran wide receiver Josh Reynolds has found a new team. The Jacksonville Jaguars have claimed Reynolds off waivers, per NFL Network, adding depth to a receiving group impacted by injuries.
Reynolds signed a two-year, $9 million deal with the Broncos in March after leaving the Detroit Lions, where he spent three productive seasons. In Detroit, Reynolds became a key offensive weapon and a reliable target for quarterback Jared Goff, building on the chemistry they had established during their time with the Los Angeles Rams.
Over 38 games (29 starts) with the Lions, Reynolds recorded 97 receptions for 1,393 yards and 10 touchdowns. His 2023 season was particularly impressive, with 608 receiving yards — just 11 shy of his career-best mark — and five touchdowns. However, his departure from Detroit came under difficult circumstances following two critical dropped passes in the NFC Championship game last January.
In Denver, Reynolds played in five games this season, including one start, tallying 12 catches on 19 targets for 183 yards and a touchdown. Unfortunately, his time with the Broncos was hindered by challenges. A hand injury sustained in a Week 5 win against the Las Vegas Raiders placed him on injured reserve on October 12.
Just six days later, Reynolds was injured in a shooting at a Denver-area nightclub, an incident he has not publicly addressed. Although his window to return from injured reserve opened last month, the Broncos opted to waive him rather than reinstate him to the active roster.
