The Detroit Lions are grappling with a surge of injuries, impacting key players on both offense and defense in recent weeks.
The defensive side has been hit particularly hard, with notable injuries to defensive tackle Alim McNeill and cornerback Carlton Davis III during Sunday’s matchup against the Buffalo Bills and their standout quarterback Josh Allen.
On Monday, speculation about a potential return to Dan Campbell’s roster surfaced when a former Lions player posted a cryptic message on X.
“The secret of success is to be ready when your opportunity comes,” Jerry Jacobs shared at 12:47 p.m. ET, accompanied by three red ‘100’ emojis.
By early Tuesday, the post had surpassed 100,000 views as Lions fans processed the team’s 48-42 loss to Buffalo, driven by Allen’s exceptional performance.
“Come home,” responded Woodward Sports, a Metro Detroit-based outlet, fueling the excitement.
“You ready? Hear the Lions might be thin at CB!” another fan commented.
“Man please tell me Brad Holmes got you on speed dial. This team needs you, should’ve never cut you to begin with,” added another.
The 5-foot-11, 203-pound cornerback, released by the Rams in August, played three seasons with Detroit. In his last appearance in 2023, Jacobs recorded 55 tackles, three interceptions, and eight passes defended under Campbell’s guidance.
