The Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings are two of the top contenders in the National Football League.
On Sunday night, two 14-2 teams faced off with high stakes. The NFC North proved to be the most competitive division in the league, just as many expected before the 2024 season kicked off.
Before the game began, it was clear that the loser would have to head West to take on the Los Angeles Rams in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell stressed the importance of his defense avoiding big plays as a key to defeating the Vikings once again.
“We can control time of possession, rack up first downs, and check off a lot of other things,” Campbell told FOX 2 Game Day Live. “But if we give up critical explosive plays at key moments, it won’t matter. We need to be on top of our game in that area.”
After 60 minutes of intense action, with a solid defensive effort in the first half, the Detroit Lions secured the No. 1 seed and claimed back-to-back division titles.
Here are several takeaways from the Lions’ dominant 31-9 win over the Vikings.
