The New York Jets’ head coaching search has reached a new milestone with the announcement of their first finalist.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport revealed that Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn “is set for an in-person, second interview with the Jets.”
Rapoport noted the significance of Glenn’s decision to prioritize the Jets, saying, “Glenn will have options, and electing to do his first visit to the team that drafted him, where he was an All-Pro, is significant.”

Glenn Emerges as the Jets’ First Head Coach Finalist
The Jets have interviewed 16 candidates for their head coaching vacancy, and Glenn is the first to advance to a second meeting.
The Lions were eliminated from the playoffs over the weekend by the Washington Commanders, a result that surprised many.
That unexpected outcome “sped up the entire cycle,” ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter shared on Sunday, January 19.
With the Lions no longer in the postseason, Glenn could be hired “as early as this week,” according to Schefter.
“This is an important moment for the Jets and a potential tipping point for coaching searches across the league,” Rapoport concluded.
