Another Ohio State Buckeye has decided to join a new team.
Offensive lineman George Fitzpatrick, who entered the transfer portal earlier this month, has now announced he will be transferring to the Kansas State Wildcats for the 2025 season.
Fitzpatrick stayed with Ohio State through their national championship run before finalizing his decision to transfer.
With two years of eligibility remaining, Fitzpatrick’s move makes sense as he was primarily a backup for the Buckeyes and is now seeking more playing time.
Interestingly, Fitzpatrick is heading to Will Howard’s former school, as Howard transferred from Kansas State to Ohio State last year.
Fitzpatrick marks the third offensive lineman to leave Ohio State since the transfer portal opened. However, the Buckeyes have also bolstered their roster with the additions of Ethan Onianwa and Phillip Daniels.
Ohio State has faced challenges in building strong offensive lines in recent years, yet they managed to assemble a solid unit for 2024 and reached the National Championship Game despite dealing with injuries.
Looking ahead, the Buckeyes are bringing in a highly-rated 2025 recruiting class, which should help keep them among the nation’s most talented teams next season.
Although Ohio State started the past year as one of the most highly regarded teams in the country, their journey wasn’t without its obstacles.
Nevertheless, the Buckeyes demonstrated their dominance by navigating the College Football Playoff and securing the title as college football’s best team.
