NASCAR Team Chimes In on Wreckfest 2 Announcement, Hoping for Specific Racing Action

THQ Nordic has officially announced Wreckfest 2, the long-awaited sequel to their popular junkyard racing game. Early Access for PC is set to launch on March 20, 2025.

The Austrian publisher is no stranger to successful releases, having delivered hit titles like Remnant 2, South Park: Snow Day!, and Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?. Their experience in racing games is equally notable, with MX vs. ATV Unleashed, Monster Jam: Steel Titans 1 & 2, and, of course, the original Wreckfest.

Many NASCAR and dirt racing fans embraced the original Wreckfest, especially as the game’s modding community flourished. Streamers and YouTubers fueled its growth by creating and sharing custom cars, tracks, and physics tweaks. The game gained traction through word of mouth, thanks to its extensive add-on capabilities, particularly on PC.

As development for the sequel continues, RFK Racing joined the conversation, hinting at a feature inspired by a recent NASCAR event. “Does it include the Clash LCQ?” the team posted on X, referencing the Last Chance Qualifier from the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum.

Fans expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming title. “I actually want this game,” said one verified user. Excitement spread globally, with YouTube Partner JeanGFX from South Africa commenting, “I’m so excited to play Wreckfest 2, can’t wait.” Popular content creator Dec Games, boasting over 50,000 YouTube subscribers and nearly 100,000 TikTok followers, added, “W and W for racing games in 2025, and we’re only 2 months in.”

One of the most well-known Wreckfest YouTubers, Ed Soundhead, kept things simple, responding to the trailer with an eye emoji. Motorsports graphic designer Davin Cornelius from Toronto shared his perspective on the sequel’s potential. “Wreckfest was always two features away from being one of the greatest racing games of our generation,” he said. “If the sequel can introduce slipstreaming and make online play with friends easier, it’ll be all-time legendary.”

Cornelius also responded to RFK Racing’s post, reinforcing the idea that a NASCAR-style LCQ could be possible. “We have the means to make it happen,” he stated.

With only a few weeks until Early Access launches, all eyes are on Finnish developer Bugbear Games. Their engagement with the NASCAR audience suggests they’re listening, making the upcoming release all the more exciting.
