Following his transfer from Kentucky, expectations were high for Onyenso at Kansas State.

Former Kentucky Seven-Footer Ugonna Onyenso Enters Transfer Portal Again

Ugonna Onyenso, the towering center who once suited up for Kentucky, is back in the transfer portal after a disappointing stint at Kansas State. Once seen as a high-upside prospect, Onyenso is now seeking a fresh opportunity to revitalize his college career.

Following his transfer from Kentucky, expectations were high for Onyenso at Kansas State. However, his impact was limited, as he averaged just 2.8 points and 2.4 rebounds per game during the 2024-25 season.

At Kentucky during the 2023-24 campaign, Onyenso showed promise, contributing 3.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and an impressive 2.8 blocks per game while playing 18.6 minutes per contest.

In contrast, his minutes dipped to just 11.1 per game at Kansas State, limiting his chances to produce. With another move now on the horizon, Onyenso is looking for a team that can offer him a larger role.

Kentucky fans remember Onyenso’s defensive potential and believe he still has significant room to grow. A new system and coaching staff might be what he needs to reach his ceiling.

Known for his shot-blocking instincts, Onyenso was one of the top rim protectors in the country in 2023-24. If given extended playing.
