The Connecticut Sun continue their offseason overhaul, sending DiJonai Carrington to the Dallas Wings and Rebecca Allen to the Chicago Sky in two separate trades. In return, Connecticut receives Jacy Sheldon, the No. 8 pick in the upcoming draft, Lindsay Allen, and the rights to Nikolina Milic.
This marks a dramatic roster shift for the Sun, who have now lost four starters from last season—Carrington, Alyssa Thomas, Ty Harris (traded), and Brionna Jones (signed with Atlanta). With DeWanna Bonner also unlikely to return, the Sun are pivoting toward a younger, retooled squad.
Carrington, the reigning Most Improved Player, was a defensive force and key energy player for Connecticut. Losing her stings, but Sheldon, a young guard with potential, and the No. 8 pick give the Sun valuable assets for the future. The departure of Allen, who was briefly set to join via the Thomas trade, is a minor move but still indicative of Connecticut’s full-scale transformation.
For Dallas, adding Carrington strengthens their defense and wing depth, making them a more balanced contender. Chicago, meanwhile, gets a veteran shooter in Allen to complement their evolving backcourt.
The Sun are clearly embracing change, but whether this leads to a rebuild or a quick reset remains to be seen. With key draft capital and flexibility, they have opportunities ahead—but also plenty of work to do.
