Indiana Fever fans are eager for the team to make key moves in free agency to bolster its roster for the 2025 season. The Fever, led by rookie sensation Caitlin Clark, reached the first round of the playoffs after finishing the regular season with a 20-20 record. Scoring wasn’t an issue for Indiana in 2024, as the team ranked third in the WNBA in points per game (86.6).
Now, fans on social media are calling for the Fever to pursue Chicago Sky’s leading scorer from 2024, Chennedy Carter. The 26-year-old point guard averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game last season. However, Chicago chose not to extend Carter’s qualifying offer following reports of locker room issues during the season. The Sky’s head coach, Teresa Weatherspoon, did not address the drama, which contributed to her firing after just one year.
“Chennedy Carter! Come to Indiana! You and the Fever would be unstoppable. Wherever you land, I wish you the best!” one fan wrote.
“Chennedy Carter would be great on the Fever,” another posted.
“Indiana Fever, Satou and Chennedy Carter should be who y’all sign. Then, revamp the bench,” a fan suggested.
“Aye, second chances can happen in Indiana,” argued another.
Carter, a Fort Worth, Texas, native, played college basketball at Texas A&M from 2017 to 2020 before being selected as the No. 4 pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft by the Atlanta Dream. She was traded to the Los Angeles Sparks in 2022 following a suspension for conduct detrimental to the team.
