When Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark attended Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” stop in Indianapolis last November, the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year revealed that Swift had invited her to join her at a Kansas City Chiefs game in the future. That promise became reality on Saturday, as Clark was spotted in the VIP box at Arrowhead Stadium, sitting beside Swift while cheering on Travis Kelce and the Chiefs in their Divisional Round matchup against the Houston Texans.
The Chiefs emerged victorious with a 23-14 win, much to the delight of Swift, Clark, and Kansas City fans alike.
Unsurprisingly, Swift and Clark’s first public appearance together created a buzz. WNBA legend Sue Bird weighed in on the event during Thursday’s episode of her podcast, A Touch More, with her fiancée Megan Rapinoe.
Given Swift’s consistent presence at Chiefs games throughout her relationship with Kelce, Bird believes the Grammy-winning artist is more than just a casual football fan. “I imagine she knows a lot about football, for real,” Bird said. Rapinoe then asked if Bird thought Swift might attend a WNBA game in the future. Bird was certain, responding, “Yeah, I have zero doubt. I totally, without a doubt believe Taylor and Travis will be coming through to a Fever game. … I think there’s a mutual respect.”
The WNBA season doesn’t begin until May, giving Swift and Kelce plenty of time to prepare for what would undoubtedly be a high-profile event if they attend a Fever game.
For now, the spotlight remains on the Chiefs as they prepare for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium. Swift has missed only one home game this season and is expected to attend Sunday’s highly anticipated showdown. Whether Clark, a devoted Chiefs fan, will make an appearance as well remains to be seen.
