Buckeyes Backup QB Devin Brown Sets Record Straight on Transfer Commitment Speculation

Dec 27, 2024 #Devin Brown

Ohio State quarterback Devin Brown has addressed rumors about his transfer plans while the Buckeyes prepare for their College Football Playoff showdown against Oregon.

The Buckeyes have already brought in four players from the transfer portal but have also seen several team members depart. Among them is Devin Brown, who has entered the portal but remains with the team as they chase a National Championship.

Recently, false rumors suggested Brown had already committed to another school or was visiting potential programs during the Buckeyes’ CFP run. On Christmas Eve, Brown took to X (formerly Twitter) to set the record straight.

“Contrary to any reports, I haven’t committed to a school yet. I haven’t even visited a school. My focus is 100% on helping the Buckeyes win a national championship. Go Bucks!” Brown posted.

In Ohio State’s first-round victory against Tennessee, Brown had the chance to step in late in the game, completing his only pass attempt for a six-yard gain. Throughout the season, he has served as the backup quarterback, fending off talented freshman Julian Sayin for the role. Starter Will Howard’s health has limited Brown to mop-up duty.

Over his Ohio State career, Brown has played in 17 games, completing 27-of-48 passes for 331 yards with three touchdown passes and one interception.

A top-50 recruit out of Utah in the 2022 class, Brown has faced stiff competition at Ohio State. His first year was spent behind C.J. Stroud, while Kyle McCord took the starting job last season.

Once Ohio State’s season concludes, Brown is expected to decide on his next move. Until then, his sole focus remains on helping the Buckeyes go as far as possible in their championship pursuit.
