Oklahoma Commit Explosive Talent with St. John Bosco Star Daniel Odom

Jan 31, 2025 #Daniel Odom

The Sooners secured their fourth commitment for the 2026 class with four-star wide receiver Daniel Odom from California.

Odom, who held 21 offers, ultimately chose Oklahoma over Texas and Oregon following a weekend visit to Norman. In 2024, he recorded 45 receptions for 682 yards and five touchdowns.

At 6’1″ and 178 pounds, Odom possesses good height and size. He displays good athletic ability with very good foot quickness, change of direction, lateral agility, foot speed, balance, and explosiveness.

He has a good release off the line of scrimmage, using his footwork and lateral movement to beat press coverage, incorporating a shoulder dip into his route stem.

His route running is effective, keeping his stems consistent while using his very good change of direction and good speed to create separation at the top of the route.

Odom understands how to use his frame to his advantage when adjusting to passes. He has good hands, showing strong grip strength to secure catches through contact. After the catch, he accelerates well, using his speed to turn upfield. His good vision, solid elusiveness, and physical toughness allow him to absorb contact and fall forward for extra yards.

To reach his full potential, Odom will need to develop his strength and explosiveness in route running to better handle physical defensive backs.

Overall, he is a very good prospect whose route running and separation quickness will provide strong competition in the WR room early. By year three, he has the potential to become a reliable possession receiver with big-play capability in Oklahoma’s offense.
