Angel Reese Gets the Michael Jordan Treatment From McDonald’s With New Burger

Angel Reese, the rising star of the Chicago Sky, is receiving a legendary honor reminiscent of Michael Jordan’s impact in the fast-food industry. McDonald’s has announced the launch of the Angel Reese Special, a new menu item set to debut on February 10.

Reese follows in the footsteps of Jordan, who had his own McDonald’s burger—the McJordan—in the early 1990s. The two burgers share a similar recipe: both are barbecue, bacon cheeseburgers, tying Reese to the basketball legacy of Chicago’s greatest athlete.

In a statement, Reese expressed her excitement:

> “McDonald’s has always been a big part of my life, from grabbing a McChicken® Sandwich as a kid to being named a McDonald’s All American in 2020. It’s really a dream come true to be the first-ever female athlete to have my own meal and be a part of McDonald’s amazing basketball legacy. I hope the Angel Reese Special inspires young athletes everywhere to never give up on pursuing their dreams.”

Reese’s achievement marks a milestone as the first female athlete to have a signature McDonald’s meal, further cementing her growing influence both on and off the court.

Jordan’s McJordan meal was a hit in the early ‘90s, reflecting his dominance in both basketball and marketing. Reese’s new meal not only nods to that legacy but also represents a shift toward recognizing female athletes on a larger commercial scale.

This move by McDonald’s signals a growing trend of corporate partnerships with WNBA players, showcasing the league’s rising popularity and influence in sports culture. With Reese’s expanding brand presence, this could be just the beginning of more high-profile deals for her and other WNBA stars.
