Dana Evans, born on August 1, 1998, in Gary, Indiana, is an American professional basketball player known for her dynamic presence on the court. She began playing basketball in the fourth grade and quickly showcased her talent, leading her high school team at West Side Leadership Academy to three Class 4A sectional titles. Her exceptional performance earned her a spot in the McDonald’s All-American Game, marking her as the first girl from Gary to achieve this honor.
Evans committed to the University of Louisville, where she made an immediate impact. In her freshman year, she was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team. As a sophomore, she earned the ACC Sixth Player of the Year award, averaging over 10 points per game off the bench. Demonstrating remarkable growth, Evans became the first player in ACC history to transition from Sixth Player of the Year to Player of the Year, securing the prestigious title in both her junior and senior seasons.
In the 2021 WNBA Draft, Evans was selected 13th overall by the Dallas Wings. After participating in six games, she was traded to the Chicago Sky in June 2021. During her rookie season with the Sky, Evans played in 23 regular-season games, averaging 3.9 points and 1.2 assists per game. Her contributions were instrumental in the Sky’s championship run, culminating in their victory over the Phoenix Mercury in the 2021 WNBA Finals. Her impressive performance earned her a spot on the WNBA All-Rookie Team.
Beyond the WNBA, Evans has expanded her career internationally. In the 2021-2022 season, she played for KSC Szekszárd in Hungary. She then joined Beşiktaş of the Turkish Super League for the 2022–2023 season, where she led her team to the EuroCup Women finals in 2024 and emerged as the top scorer of the tournament.
