Vancouver Giants’ Cameron Schmidt Selected for 2024 CHL USA Prospects Challenge

Vancouver Giants forward Cameron Schmidt has been named to the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) roster for the inaugural 2024 CHL USA Prospects Challenge presented by Kubota. This prestigious two-game series pits the CHL’s top prospects against USA Hockey’s national team development program.

Schmidt, 17, is having a remarkable draft-eligible season, leading the Western Hockey League (WHL) in goals (12) and tied for first in points (19). The speedy winger has recorded at least one point in all 11 games, the longest current point streak in the WHL, and has scored a goal in eight of 11 contests.

A gold medalist with Hockey Canada at the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and 2023 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, Schmidt previously scored the golden goal. Last season, he tallied 31 goals and 26 assists for 57 points in 58 games.

“Cameron’s impressive start, coupled with his success last season and internationally, has earned him this opportunity to represent the Giants,” said Giants general manager Barclay Parneta. “We’re excited to see him compete at this level.”
